Attention sushi lovers! We all know the cravings are a real thing when they hit, am I right? Build your own Sushi Bowls!

My sushi loving family is in love with these Sushi Bowls and I know you will be too. Be sure to also try these amazing Hawaii Poke Bowls!

I have to give credit to my friend Amy who inspired this post. She made an amazing sushi bowl bar for our book club recently and I have been experimenting with ingredients and making them ever since!

How to Make Sushi Bowls

Make one or make them all! Begin by prepping the ingredients you’ll need and let everyone build their own sushi bowls according to their liking. Make rice in the Instant Pot while you chop and prepare the other ingredients. For a bigger Sushi Bowl bar with multiple options, I also like to include tuna, chicken, bell peppers, chopped nori sheets, fresh ginger, and of plenty of condiments and toppings.

The recipe instructions below include ingredients for 4 bowls, but can easily be modified/increased to your preference.

Sushi Bowl Toppings

To take your sushi bowls to the next level, be sure to include all your favorite sushi condiments. My favorites are coconut aminos (or soy sauce), spicy mayo (see below), fresh ginger, wasabi, and furikake (a combo of black and white sesame seeds, nori flakes, and citrus zest.)

California Roll Sushi Bowl

To make a California Roll Bowl, simply combine white rice with traditional California Roll ingredients of crab meat, cucumber, and avocado. Top with your favorite sushi condiments.

Vegan Sushi Bowl

For a Vegan Sushi Bowl version, I include brown rice, avocado, edamame, carrots, cucumbers, nori, and green onions. This bowl can be modified to your preference by changing up the ingredients any way you like and topped with your favorite sushi extras! Other delicious add-ins include red bell peppers, radishes, pea pods, and shredded red cabbage.

Shrimp Sushi Bowl

To build a Shrimp Sushi Bowl, start with cooked tailless shrimp and add your favorite vegetables. I like the combo of cucumber, carrots, and shrimp in these bowls, topped with furikake and a spicy mayo sauce (see tip below.)

Sushi Bowl Spicy Mayo Sauce

Sushi Bowls are extra delicious with a drizzle of spicy mayo sauce. To make spicy mayo, I mix my Homemade Avocado Oil Mayonnaise with sriracha. Start with a little and taste as you go, until it is at your preferred heat level.

Keto and Whole30 Sushi Bowl Option

Any of these Sushi Bowl Recipes can be made with cauliflower rice to keep it Whole30 compliant and Keto friendly. If using any other condiments or toppings, be sure to double check the labels for non-compliant ingredients.
