If I were to ask all the football loving fans in my family what their favorite foods happen to be and what they most want in a Super Bowl snack, bacon and cheese would top the list. The combination of salty fried pork and creamy sharp cheese appeals to the masses, well, at least to everyone I know.

I'm pretty sure theseBacon Cheddar Beer Bread Footballs will be a huge hit at any Superbowl party. They would go great with a bowl of chili, but are prefect little snacks just on their own. Each beer infused, football shaped bread loaf is loaded with gooey cheese and has a crispy, crunchy, bacon crust.

Yes, I said bacon crust.

Have you ever had bread with a bacon crust before? I had not. I didn't know what I had been missing.

The bacon not only adds texture and a rich meaty flavor to the bread, it also gives each football the deep brown color I wanted.

In order to get my bread loafs in the shape of a football, I baked them in a Wilton Mini Football Silicone Mold.

I mixed, sprinkled, scooped, baked, and ate these loaves in less than 30 minutes.

They are great warm, but were pretty good cold too which means they can easily be made in advance of a Super Bowl party. So, get your self some Wilton Football Molds, and have some fun. I've madeFootballs Shaped Hamburgers Served on Football Shaped Bunsusing the molds and will show you how I use the molds to make another bacon cheddar recipe tomorrow.

Grease football cavities in the silicone molds with butter. Sprinkle one slice of bacon pieces into each cavity, covering the bottom of each football completely. Equally divide batter among football cavities filling each about half way. I used a #16 ice cream scoop to fill my footballs and it worked perfectly.

Bake for 22-24 minutes until the tops turn lightly golden brown. Remove the bread from the mold and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Cut off any cheese that has oozed to make your footballs look neater.

You can serve these little football shaped bread loaves as they are or you can decorate them with some sour cream. Spoon sour cream into a small zip top bag. Cut off one tip. Pipe sour cream laces and stripes onto each football. These loaves are best served the day they are made, but can be stored in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
